Ankabut Users' Meeting January 12th Invitation Reminder

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to all who have RSVP to the January 12th Ankabut Users’ Meeting. This is a reminder to those who have yet to respond and I have included a revised agenda.

Ankabut, the UAE Advanced Network for Research and Education is holding its Winter Users' Meeting and invites you and members of your institution to attend.

The Ankabut Users' Meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th January at Khalifa University's Abu Dhabi Campus . Registration begins at 9:30AM with the formal program starting at 10AM and concluding no later than 4:00PM. The complete agenda for the event is stated below.

Ankabut is delighted to have two internationally renowned speakers for the upcoming meeting. At 11:15AM Dr. Federico Ruggieri, a senior physicist and Director of Research at INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics) will speak on the topic:  : “eInfrastructures for eScience". At 1:30PM, Dr. Wolfgang Gentzsch, a strategic consultant for High Performance Computing, Grid, and Cloud infrastructures, for governments, research, and industry, world-wide will speak on the topic: “Blueprint for a Research and Education Infrastructure for UAE”.  We will of course leave ample time for meeting the speakers, Ankabut, and networking with your peers.

11:15: Morning Address Dr. Federico Ruggieri Topic: “eInfrastructures for eScience".
Dr. Federico Ruggieri is a senior physicist and Director of Research at INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics). He spent most of his professional life working on On-Line and Off-line Computing Systems for High Energy Physics experiments at CERN and at Frascati, INFN National Laboratory. He promoted the first GRID project approved and funded by the European Commission: EU-DataGRID and started the Tier1 of INFN-CNAF in Bologna where he was the Director from 1998 to 2004.

Dr. Wolfgang Gentzsch is a strategic consultant for HPC, Grid, and Cloud infrastructures, for governments, research, and industry, world-wide. He is also Director At Large of the OGF Open Grid Forum for e-Infrastructure Standards, an advisor to the Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Applications (DEISA), and an IDC Consulting Analyst for HPC in Europe.
